In this day and age it is widely accepted that we encourage individuals to be open and honest when experiencing anxiety, stress or depression etc. However, it is not always easy to know what is the best way to support someone who needs our help or to recognise when outside expertise is needed.
This programme provides the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to spot the signs, understand and offer support when encountering clients, customers, friends and relatives with mental health issues.
Mental Health Awareness and first Aid is open to WALX/NWUK Masters and Instructors as well as coaches, leaders and guides.
Members of the public can also enrol on this training in order to support the people around them.
The course is split into two units.
Mental Health Awareness is delivered via an eLearning module, with the support of a study book, and provides learners with an understanding and awareness of common mental health disorders and issues.
Mental Health First Aid is delivered via an eLearning module and provides learners with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of mental health through recognising and responding to the signs of mental ill health in themselves and others. Individuals will be able to offer mental health first aid to people experiencing mental ill health.
