Finding your Wings Module

Find your Wings: Start to Fly

Through the lockdown periods, the WALX education team developed the instructor training programmes to make the most of virtual and online learning platforms. The result has been instructor and walk leader training accessible every month without the need for travelling days or overnight stays. Analysis of the success of instructors after training indicates that the quality of teaching and class development has remained high, and virtual and online training will remain a key strategy for developing existing and new teams nationwide.

The value of face-to-face teaching and professional interaction remains obvious, however; particularly apparent with the success of the recent WALX Festival in Purbeck. To ensure Nordic Walking UK and WALX instructors benefit from the ease of learning and speed of setting up classes AND face-to-face skill development, we are running regular ‘Find your Wings – Start to Fly’ workshops around the country. These 6-hour workshops review the finer details of tapping into the emotional journey of a client, Power of Poles 1 & 2, managing larger groups and dealing with technique challenges. You will practice and perfect the skills which grow and sustain your business.

The ‘Find your Wings – Start to Fly’ workshops are designed with the newly qualified instructor in mind who has not yet had face-to-face training with a member of the WALX education team. The cost of the workshop is included within the cost of WALX Diploma in Nordic & Fitness Walking for these instructors. To gain the most from the training workshop, we advise that instructors have been delivering walks and classes for at least a month before attending.

The workshops are also available to all existing Nordic Walking UK instructors who know they would benefit from a session dedicated on improving the conversion of new clients to regular clients, retaining current clients and applying the latest teaching strategies while having the opportunity to review some basics. The 6-hour workshop builds in the chance to ask those burning ‘what about this situation…” type questions and is only £99 to current NWUK instructors.
